THERE WERE TWO BRIDGES

One was cold.
The other was hot.
I didn't want to take the hot road, because they said there were monsters there.
But my friend insisted.
I didn't want anything to happen to her.
So I went with her.

*

To get to the hot bridge, we had to swim across the river.
In the river, there were signs:
"DANGER"
"DO NOT SWIM"
"MONSTERS"
"MONSTERS HERE! DANGER!"

*

Up above, on the hot bridge, people called down to us.
"Come on up," they said. "It's fine. There are no monsters."

*

But down below, I saw one.
